CEO Gives CMU Record $3B Gift

Citadel CEO Ken Griffin is giving $3 billion to Carnegie Mellon University, the largest individual gift in the history of American higher education.

Two-thirds of the money will build a 35-acre campus in Miami’s Wynwood neighborhood that will organize learning around “societal challenges” instead of traditional majors.

The remaining $1 billion stays in Pittsburgh, split between the university’s top priorities and a $500 million investment in its School of Computer Science, which will be renamed for Griffin.

CMU Miami expects to begin enrolling students in 2028 and eventually serve more than 3,500, while Griffin will join the university’s board of trustees.

State House Passes Open Primary Bill

The state House voted 115-88 to open Pennsylvania’s primary elections to unaffiliated voters, who currently can’t cast a ballot in either major party’s primary.

Under the bill, independent voters could choose a Democratic or Republican ballot without changing their registration, a change that could affect more than 1.5 million Pennsylvanians.

Sixteen Republicans backed the measure, and three Democrats opposed it, while House Minority Leader Jesse Topper argued the spring nomination process should stay with each party’s members.

The bill now heads to the Republican-controlled Senate, which passed a similar measure in 2019.

Teens Successfully Stop Bus after Driver Falls Ill

Four Hollidaysburg Area High School students safely stopped their school bus after the driver suffered a medical emergency during an afternoon ride home last month.

As the bus drifted, sophomore Alexis Smith hit the brake and checked the driver’s pulse, while senior Skyla Horton set the parking brake and opened the doors.

Senior Travis Zerby radioed the bus company and sophomore Jenna Anderson called 911, and the students credited their health and medical science teacher for preparing them.

The driver has since recovered and returned to his route, and the school’s principal said every student involved deserves credit.

Before You Spend Money on Peptides, See What Your DNA Says

Peptides have become one of the biggest topics of conversation in anti-aging, longevity, weight loss, recovery, and muscle growth. But here’s the problem: the same peptide may not work the same way for everyone.

The Pep Report analyzes more than 710,000 genetic markers and compares them against published research to help identify which peptides and nutraceuticals your biology may support.

And because your DNA doesn’t change, you only need to test it once. A simple cheek swab gives you genetic information you can reference as you explore different options, rather than spending money blindly and hoping something works.

The Flyover readers automatically get 10% off, no code needed. See which peptides match your DNA.
