Shapiro Wins Second Term as Governor

Democratic Gov. Josh Shapiro won a second term in yesterday’s midterm election, defeating Republican state Treasurer Stacy Garrity in a race the Associated Press called minutes after polls closed.

With about 80% of the expected vote counted, Shapiro led roughly 61% to 38%, NBC News reported, after leading in the polls throughout the race.

In his victory speech, Shapiro shared that Garrity called to wish him well and told him she wants to work together to serve Pennsylvanians.

Garrity, who was elected treasurer in 2020 and reelected in 2024, campaigned on her two decades of military service and positioned herself as a strong ally of President Trump.

Central PA Runner Dies in NYC Marathon

Rachel Apa, a 24-year-old central Pennsylvania native, died after collapsing near Mile 24 of Sunday’s New York City Marathon, about two miles from the finish line in Central Park.

Apa, a former Bucknell University field hockey player, was running her first marathon and had trained for months, her father said.

Her family attributed her death to rhabdomyolysis, a dangerous breakdown of muscle tissue that can follow extreme exertion, though the medical examiner hasn’t released an official cause.

The race drew a record 61,146 finishers, making it the largest marathon ever held for the third straight year.

LeBron Sips Fan’s Wine Courtside

LeBron James went viral for taking a sip of a fan’s wine after tumbling into the courtside seats during the 76ers’ 126-107 win over the Bulls on Monday night.

James said he asked to try the wine because he wanted to know “how good it was,” turning a hard fall into one of the lighter moments of the young season.

It’s James’ first season in Philadelphia after he signed as a free agent this summer, joining a retooled roster with Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, and fellow newcomer Jaylen Brown.

The Sixers opened the season by beating the defending champion Knicks, and at 41, James is playing his 24th NBA season, the most in league history.

The Hormone Behind Thinning Hair After 50 (It’s Not Just a Men’s Problem)

If your part has been widening, your ponytail feels thinner, or more hair is collecting in the shower drain, you’re not imagining it.

According to a menopause specialist, when estrogen drops after 50, the relative balance of a hormone called DHT rises. And DHT is known for one thing: shrinking hair follicles.

That’s why so many women who never had hair trouble in their 30s and 40s suddenly see it later. It’s also why thickening shampoos and biotin gummies often disappoint. They don’t address what’s happening at the follicle.

The good news? She says many of those follicles aren’t gone, just dormant.

Her approach skips the serums and foams entirely. It’s two capsules a day, built around a mineral pairing many women over 50 run low on.

The Missing Nutrient Behind Thin Hair

After 50, many women run low on one mineral that helps keep DHT, a hair-thinning hormone, in check.

Biotin won’t fix that. Neither will another bottle of thickening shampoo.

A menopause specialist and an Austin hairstylist found that pairing this mineral with one B vitamin, plus three other targeted nutrients, may help support fuller, stronger-looking hair from the inside out. No serums, no foams. Just two capsules with your morning coffee.
