Shapiro Critiques Trump over Chip Deal

Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro accused the Trump administration of undercutting the U.S. in the AI race by letting Nvidia sell advanced chips to approved Chinese customers.

Speaking at an AI summit in Pittsburgh, Shapiro, a Democrat, said the deal gave Chinese firms “a leg up over American entrepreneurs” and called it “a mistake.”

The administration and Nvidia have defended the policy, arguing it lets U.S. companies compete globally while safeguards protect national security.

Shapiro’s remarks came ahead of President Trump’s planned Sept. 24 meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping, which he said should put AI policy high on the agenda.

Widespread Flooding Expected This Week

Steady, widespread rain is moving across Pennsylvania, with forecasters warning it could pond on roads and slow commutes.

The soaking comes as a flood watch was extended for parts of western Pennsylvania, where the ground is already saturated.

Allentown Grad Kicks His Way to $1 Million

James Whitehead, a Parkland High School graduate from Allentown, won $1 million with a barefoot field goal on ESPN’s College GameDay.

The University of Mississippi finance major drilled a 33-yard kick during Pat McAfee’s “Kicking is Easy” challenge in Oxford, Mississippi. Whitehead said he’d never played football, crediting his years as a Parkland soccer forward and some last-minute advice from a kicker friend.

He plans to invest part of the winnings and donate some to brain cancer research in honor of his grandfather, who died of the disease.

The kick added another jaw-dropping moment to a segment McAfee funds himself, one that has handed out millions to students nationwide.
