FBI Stops ISIS-Inspired Plot in Cranberry

A Valencia man was charged with obtaining a rifle for an ISIS-inspired attack after FBI agents arrested him outside a Cranberry Township hotel Saturday.

Jonathan Kramer, 21, left juvenile detention in March. A tipster flagged “mysterious” packages, and he allegedly used an online persona claiming ISIS ties, saying he was missing only a “weapon.” A hotel guest overheard him say, “Today is the day.”

Searches of his hotel room and home turned up a rifle, loaded magazines, a scope, ammunition, 30 knives, and a note telling people not to look for him.

FBI Pittsburgh Special Agent in Charge Richard Evanchec said Tuesday Kramer discussed chemical poisons, vehicle attacks, and drone-delivered explosives online. He waived a detention hearing and faces a preliminary examination Wednesday.

AG Busts Statewide THC Trafficking Ring

Twelve people face charges after a long investigation into high-potency THC products that state Attorney General Dave Sunday says were “packaged and flavored to attract children” and sold in stores across Pennsylvania.

The operation ran from warehouses in Allegheny, Luzerne, and Bucks counties, and agents seized about 143,000 products and traced about $18.7 million in illegal proceeds. A statewide grand jury recommended the charges last month.

Prosecutors say the group disguised profits through a money laundering operation. All 12 have been arraigned on charges including corrupt organizations, dealing in proceeds of unlawful activity, and felony drug trafficking.

Sunday said the enterprise took deliberate steps to distribute the drugs statewide, “then to conceal the millions and millions of dollars they profited from the scheme.” Federal agencies and seven district attorneys assisted.

Lancaster Lands Five USGA Championships

The United States Golf Association announced Tuesday that Lancaster Country Club will host five women’s championships from 2028 through 2044, capped by the 2044 U.S. Women’s Open.

The other four are the 2028 U.S. Girls’ Junior, the 2033 U.S. Senior Women’s Open, the 2037 U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur, and the 2040 U.S. Women’s Amateur. USGA chief championships officer John Bodenhamer called the deal “a true multi-generational commitment to women’s golf.”

The course hosted the Women’s Open in 2015 and 2024. After the 2024 event, USGA CEO Mike Whan told the crowd, “You ain’t hidden anymore. You are a gem.”

The state’s Independent Fiscal Office estimated the 2024 edition generated $13.2 million in direct spending and 9,300 hotel room nights in Lancaster County.
