New FBI Files Shed Light on Butler Shooter

Newly released FBI records show Butler rally gunman Thomas Matthew Crooks exchanged cryptic texts about 3D printing in the months before he tried to assassinate then-candidate Donald Trump in July 2024.

In a February 2023 exchange, an unknown contact asked, “Did you 3D print the parts?” and Crooks replied, “Yes, except for the fan blades.”

The 249 pages, obtained by Judicial Watch through a records lawsuit, also include 40 drone photos Crooks took around Pittsburgh in February 2024, including shots of PNC Park and Acrisure Stadium.

Crooks’ father told investigators his son had tried to build a Glock 19 handgun with a 3D printer. Judicial Watch is pressing the FBI to release its full investigative file.

House OKs Ban on Plate-Hiding Devices

The state House voted 197-6 to ban devices that hide or obscure license plates, sending House Bill 2219 to the Senate.

The bill targets blackout plates that turn a plate black at the push of a button, along with covers that look normal but interfere with toll and traffic cameras.

Sponsor Rep. Jeanne McNeill, D-Lehigh, said the measure strengthens a 2024 law that banned license plate flipping devices so state law can keep up with new technology.

As introduced, the proposal would also ban license plate covers, though frames would still be allowed as long as they don’t block the plate.

Albatwitch Day Returns This Saturday

Albatwitch Day returns Saturday for its 13th year, this time at Riverfront Park in Wrightsville, to celebrate Central Pennsylvania’s homegrown cryptid.

Legend says the small, hairy creature with glowing yellow eyes lurked near Chickies Rock along the Susquehanna River, and its name means “apple snitcher” in Pennsylvania Dutch.

Stories from the 1800s claim albatwitches stole apples from picnickers at Chickies Rock and pelted them with the cores.

The festival was held for years across the river in Columbia, where locals have long claimed the albatwitch as their hometown legend.
