Philadelphia Pledges $2B for Airport Overhaul

Philadelphia announced a $2 billion investment to modernize Philadelphia International Airport and Northeast Philadelphia Airport through its Transform PHL program, the largest reinvestment in the aviation department’s history.

The money, drawn from airline revenue, federal and state grants, and facility charges rather than local taxes, will fund terminal upgrades, including remodeled restrooms, new seating with charging ports, and improved SEPTA platforms and parking garages.

The announcement came as PHL ranked last among large North American airports in J.D. Power’s consumer satisfaction survey for the sixth consecutive year, scoring 596 out of 1,000.

Officials stressed the airport’s score has risen two years running, framing the spending as a multiyear bet to shed its bottom-of-the-list reputation and keep pace with rival East Coast hubs.

Court Tosses Reese’s Faceless Pumpkin Suit

A federal judge dismissed a class-action lawsuit brought by two Florida men against Hershey over its Reese’s Peanut Butter Pumpkins.

The pair claimed the packaging misled buyers by depicting the candies with carved jack-o’-lantern faces that the actual product doesn’t have, saying they paid a premium for the novelty designs.

U.S. District Judge Melissa Damian ruled the men lacked standing, finding their only injury was subjective disappointment rather than any concrete financial loss, since the candy wasn’t defective or worthless.

The decision, which the plaintiffs’ lawyer says they plan to appeal, closes out one of several recent “faceless candy” suits against the Pennsylvania-based confectioner just as its Halloween products hit shelves.
