AG Sues Insulin Makers over Prices

Attorney General Dave Sunday sued major insulin makers and pharmacy benefit managers, alleging they conspired to inflate insulin prices by more than 1,000%.

The defendants include Eli Lilly, Novo Nordisk, and Sanofi, along with pharmacy benefit managers Express Scripts, CVS Caremark, and Optum Rx.

The state alleges the benefit managers favored drugs with higher list prices because they brought bigger rebates, while manufacturers raised prices to win spots on insurance formularies.

About 1.3 million Pennsylvanians have diabetes, and the lawsuit seeks lower prices, restitution for patients, and civil penalties.

Pitt among 9 Schools in Visa Probe

Vice President JD Vance said the University of Pittsburgh is one of nine universities under federal investigation over their use of J-1 visas, which let foreign nationals work and study in the U.S.

Vance said the schools fill about 61% of federally funded research jobs with J-1 holders, compared with a 38% national average, and argued they’re undercutting American workers.

The Labor Department subpoenaed Pitt’s records, and the university said it follows all federal requirements and is reviewing the subpoena.

The other schools include Harvard, Yale, Stanford, Brown, and MIT, and no finding of wrongdoing has been made.

$837M Port Expansion to Add 6,000 Jobs

The state, the federal government, and private companies will invest $837 million to expand the Port of Philadelphia, a project leaders say will create more than 6,000 jobs.

Plans call for two new berths in South Philadelphia and new cranes to handle more cargo.

Officials expect the expansion to bring in about $45 million in additional tax revenue each year.

The port handled a record 840,000 containers and 280,000 vehicles in 2024, and officials have said it needs more room to keep growing.
